Differences between similar terms used in prophecy

Terms used in Bible prophecy
Differences between common terms; Wrath of God and wrath of the Lamb

God’s wrath and the Lambs wrath seem similar but they differ, understanding their differences will help you in understanding the time frame a prophecy is talking about.
• God’s wrath is God’s vengeance that will be poured in ‘the Day of the Lord’ as written in Bible prophecy, while the Lambs wrath will be poured after the false prophet has forced all men to worship the beast and to take the number 666 in form of the 7 plagues in Revelation.
  • God’s wrath will be His vengeance upon ALL mankind for breaking His laws, while the Lambs wrath will be poured on those who will refuse the message of salvation in Jesus Christ as it is written;
    • Isaiah 24 See, the LORD is going to lay waste the earth
    and devastate it; he will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants 2 it will be the same for priest as for people, for the master as for his servant, for the mistress as for her servant, for seller as for buyer, for borrower as for lender, for debtor as for creditor.
    3 The earth will be completely laid waste and totally plundered.
    The LORD has spoken this word.
    4 The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the heavens languish with the earth. 5 The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws,
    violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant.
    6 Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt.

Zephaniah 1;2 “I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD. 3 “I will sweep away both man and beast; I will sweep away the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea— and the idols that cause the wicked to stumble
“When I destroy all mankind on the face of the earth,”
declares the LORD,

Zechariah 13: 8 In the whole land,” declares the LORD,
“two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it. 9 This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”

  • The saints will be affected by God’s wrath for the purpose of being refined and purified before they are in the presence of the Lord but they will not go through the wrath of the Lamb for there is no more condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. God cannot stand sin and thus, the purpose of God’s wrath will be to change the attitudes of men towards sin as His Wrath cleanses the earth of sin in preparation of the His second coming

Malachi 3:2 But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.

  • When God’s wrath is poured people learn righteousness
    Isaiah 26:9 … When your judgments come upon the earth,
    the people of the world learn righteousness
  • The Righteousness of God will be shown through His Wrath as He starts His vengeance in His own house with His own people
    1 Peter 4: 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
    Daniel 11:33 “Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered. 34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
  • God’s wrath will purify the saints, while condemning the wicked who will not change their ways;
    Daniel 12: 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
  • At that time, Israel will go through the great lamentation while Christians go through the great Tribulation. Those Christians who die at that time, will be the blessed, and will take part in the wedding supper of the Lamb along with the first fruits from Israel the 144,000 who are sealed in Revelation 7 and talked of in the 5th seal in Revelation 6. Together with the 144,000 they will be resurrected when Jesus comes back at the first resurrection. The 144,000 were part of the early church who were persecuted after Jesus Christ ascended into heaven.
  • Those who will die for their faith at the end of this age is the great multitude that no one could count spoken of in Revelation 7.
    Revelation 7: 9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:
    “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”

And so it is written;
Revelation 12: 11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death

  • The Lambs wrath will be poured by the seven angels with seven plagues from heaven while God’s wrath will be unleashed through the second horseman who takes peace from the earth in the second seal. The red horseman is also the Assyrian spoken of in Isaiah and the destroyer who will rise with a large army compared to swarms of locust at the blowing of the fifth trumpet to take peace from the earth, and through him, God’s wrath will be poured upon all mankind, as it is written;
    Isaiah 10: 5 “Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger,
    in whose hand is the club of my wrath! 6 I send him against a godless nation, I dispatch him against a people who anger me, to seize loot and snatch plunder, and to trample them down like mud in the streets.

Did you know? The place of Mount Zion was chosen in the days of the prophets
This is a continuation from the previous articles on Mount Zion, in here you find verses that prove Mount Zion as a place and nation, was chosen in the days of the prophets.

Mount Zion: The Chosen place of the redeemed;

The Chosen place of the redeemed; Mount Zion
Mount Zion is used prophetically to refer to a people, (the redeemed who make the church of Christ) and a place.
As a place, Mount Zion symbolizes the place chosen by God to be the sanctuary of the redeemed and the dwelling place of His Name Jesus Christ, the foundation stone of the church. In the past and current age, Jerusalem is used to prophetically refer to the people of Israel while Mount Zion is used prophetically to refer to the gentiles. Mount Zion is the gentile nation that God spoke of through Moses after Israel had made Him jealous by making and worshiping an idol on their way from Egypt, as it is written:
Deuteronomy 32: 21 They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding. Continue reading

Symbolism used in the first seal

The 1st seal: symbolism and events
Understanding who the four horsemen are is an important clue to understanding the prophetic events that will happen at the end of this age.

Seal 1: The white horseman who is conqueror bent on conquest
Revelation 6: I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

The Conqueror bent on Conquest on the white horse, is Jesus Christ, revealed in Revelation 19

Revelations 19 :11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Tree symbols used in Bible prophecy

Tree symbols used in Bible prophecy

Trees generally symbolize  people in Bible prophecy, example;

Psalms 1Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. Continue reading

Symbolism used in the beasts of Revelations 13

Symbolism used in the beasts of Revelations 13

 Revelation 13, mentions two beasts that will rise at the end of this age, the beast out of the sea and the beast out of the earth in Revelation 13.( These are also the same beasts mentioned in Revelation 17

Revelation 13 The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.

  1. A beast is a symbol for both a kingdom and king revealed in Dan 7:23 and Rev. 17:11 respectively
  • a) A kingdom revealed in Daniel 7:23 “He gave me this explanation:  ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth.
  • b) A king revealed in Revelation 17:11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

The word beast therefore = both a kingdom and a king, who are part of the seven heads of the devil,

  • The sea is a mass of water, and water is a symbol for;

Revelation 17: 15 Then the angel said to me, “The waters …, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.

  • Therefore, the beast out of the sea = a kingdom and king who is part of the seven heads of the dragon, and who will come from a multitude of people from all nations and languages.

To fully understand who a beast is, it is important to understand who a dragon is.

  1. The dragon is revealed in Rev. 12:3,9 as;

Revelation 12Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

The seven heads of the dragon are beasts who are kings in Revelation 17:9-11

  • The 7 heads of the dragon are; Revelation 17:“… The seven heads … 10 … are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while. 11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.
  • Six of the seven heads of the dragon have fallen since the sixth head was in power when the prophecies were given and the 7th head has not yet come but when he does come, he will remain for only a little while. One of the seven heads who ruled in the past will rise again at the end as an 8th head though he belongs to the seven.
  • So what is the connection between the devil and the beasts? The seven heads of the devil are also the seven beasts; we understand this from the description of the beast who once was, now not yet will come up out of the abyss.

Revelation 17:“… The seven heads … 10 … are also seven kings. …11 the beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

The beast who once was is grouped amoung the seven heads and referred to as a beast, meaning, the 7 heads are also seven beasts. Six of these beasts have fallen, the 7th beast will rise at the end of this age, followed by the beast who once ruled, now is not yet will rise again as an 8th king.

  • The kingdom out of the sea is described to have; Revelation 13:1 …and I saw a beast coming out of the sea.  It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.

The description of seven heads and ten horns is to imply its part of the dragon or devil as the same description is used for the beast “who once was, now not’ in Revelation 17. This description is however very crucial in giving us more information about the ten horns and when they rise to power. In the description of the beast out of the sea, the beast has seven heads, ten horns  and  ‘ten crowns upon its horns’. Ten crowns upon its horns imply the horns have received their power to rule confirming, the kingdom and king from among the people is the one who rises along with the ten others to power as it is written;

Revelation 17:12 “The ten horns …are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. 13 They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.  17 For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God’s words are fulfilled.

We already know : The dragon = the devil or Satan, Revelation 12:9 . The sea is a mass of water. Water =; people multitudes nations and languages as revealed in Revelation 17:15 and beast =kingdom and king who belongs to the seven heads of the dragon as revealed in Dan 7:23 and Rev.17:11.

Thus Revelation 13: 1 “the dragon stood at the shore of the sea imply, the devil will influence the people’s action in the rise of this kingdom and king to power.

Thus, beast out of the sea=The kingdom/king who is part of the seven heads of the devil (7th head specifically). This kingdom and king will rise from among the people, and will arise along with ten others,  (10 horns of the devil) to power. The devil will influence the people from different nations and languages in the rise of this king and kingdom.

  1. The beast out of the earth

Revelation 13:11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.  12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.

We already know; beast=kingdom and king as revealed in Dan 7:23 Rev 17:11 respectively

  1. Two horns like a lamb– A Lamb symbolize Jesus Christ, The Lamb of God who took away the sin of the World. To have a physical appearance of the Lamb means this kingdom and it’s king will physically appear to be a church and or a believer of Jesus Christ.
  2. But spoke like a dragon– A dragon symbolizes Satan as revealed in Rev 12:9, thus to speak like a dragon means to act like Satan, out of the overflow of the heart (heart and mind make the soul) the mouth speaks.
  3. Out of the earth = up out of the Abyss, that describes the (beast)kingdom/king who once was, now not yet will rise from the abyss and go to his destruction mentioned in Revelation 17:…The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come. 11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

Therefore, the beast from the earth=kingdom and king who once was, now not, yet will come up again at the end of this age. He will rise as the 8th head of the dragon though belonging to the seven. He will be a kingdom and king that will physically appear to be a church or believer of Jesus Christ, yet he will have the soul of the devil and thus, he rises to continue the devils agenda.

In conclusion, two kingdoms and kings who are part of the seven heads of the dragon will rise at the end of this age.

  1. The kingdom and king who will rise along with ten other kings (leaders) to power. This kingdom and king, along with ten others will rise from among the people from different nations and languages. It’s rise to power will be influenced by the devil. This kingdom and king will be the 7th head of the devil and will have a blasphemous name. (As a kingdom, the 7th head of the devil will represent the kingdom of Assyria with the anti-Christ as its king, we will look at this in another post)
  2. The kingdom and king who will have a physical appearance of the church or believer of Jesus Christ yet inwardly will act on behalf of the devil. This kingdom and king ruled in the past, it is now not in power but it will rise again at the end of this age to continue the rule of the kingdom who rises from among the people. This kingdom and king rises as the 8th head of the devil. (As a kingdom the 8th head is confirmed in Bible prophecy to be the kingdom of Babylon, we will look at this in detail in another post)

Be blessed!
