The 70 week period of rebuilding Jerusalem and the third temple.
Jerusalem remains the beloved of the Lord and the Throne of God, that is why, God purposed that Jerusalem be in the center of all nations. At the end of this age, the city of Jerusalem will be rebuilt along with the Third temple. The city will be rebuilt to be the most beautiful city and a joy of the whole earth as it was purposed to be long before the foundations of the earth were laid. In the ages to come, Jerusalem will remain the most beautiful city and a joy to all mankind. In the next age, at the start of the 1000 year millennium, the throne of David will be restored under the rule of Jesus Christ through the child of Revelation 12.At that time, all nations will be saved as part of the reconciliation of all things to God under Jesus Christ.
The city of Jerusalem is the bride of Christ; it’s the place that Jesus Christ promised He was going to prepare for His beloved children. The New Jerusalem is being prepared in heaven and will be revealed after the 1000 year period when a new Earth and New Heavens are created and God comes to dwell among men.
Although the current Jerusalem will be rebuilt, it will be rebuilt during a time of trouble, seven weeks after the decree to rebuild it, the fifth trumpet in Revelation 9 will be blown, the anti-Christ will rise to power along with ten others. They will enforce a five months martial law forcing all men to return to their native land and then proceed to destroy Babylon as God has purposed for them. A year after the anti-Christ and the ten rise to power, the 6th Trumpet will be blown and a mighty army will be destroyed by the great river Euphrates. This will lead to a large army matching into Jerusalem and after 69 weeks from the time the decree goes forth to rebuild Jerusalem, the city will be destroyed.
Israel is a very special nation for all nations on earth. In ages to come, Israel will be a blessing to all other nations as it was created and purposed to be. All those who get born again in this age will become priests and ministers of the Living God and when the new heavens and new earth are created, the New Jerusalem will come from heaven and become the dwelling place of all those who believe in Jesus Christ in this age and therefore, it is written for all believer;
Psalms 137:5-6 5 If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.
6 May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you,
if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.
And so, all believer must not keep silent, bust must the Living God to complete His Work in Zion and Jerusalem, as it written;
Isaiah 62 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.
Jerusalem and Israel
a) The 70 weeks decreed for Jerusalem and the Israelites
Daniel 9: 24 “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.
- Finish transgression
- Put an end to sin
- Atone for wickedness
- Bring in everlasting righteousness
- Seal up prophecy and vision
- Anoint the Most Holy Place
Therefore, 70 weeks are decreed for Israel to seal up prophecy and Vision and anoint the Most Holy place in the third temple in. In that time, Israel will finish transgression and atone for wickedness, they will bring in everlasting righteousness to symbolize their acceptance of Jesus Christ who is Our Righteousness.
In the 69th week, Assyria will break the alliance with Jerusalem. With his army, he will besiege Jerusalem thus opening their eyes, as they look on prophecy and realize the Assyrian cannot save them. This will prompt their acknowledgement of Jesus Christ as their only Savior and Messiah.
- The rebuilding of Jerusalem and the third temple
Jerusalem and the third temple will be rebuilt as stated in Daniel 9:25 b. It [Jerusalem], will be rebuilt with streets and a trench. Currently, Jerusalem does not have a temple which will be essential in end time prophecies as it will be in the temple that the abomination that causes desolation will be set, as it is written
Daniel 9:27 b And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation. Therefore, not only will the city of Jerusalem be rebuilt, the Third temple will also be rebuilt.
- The most secure city
Jerusalem will be built in a very secure way, with believe that enemies cannot enter Jerusalem, however because of the sins of the prophets and priests in killing righteous people in Jerusalem, enemies will enter the city and destroy it. As it is written:
The people will not believe that enemies could enter the gates of Jerusalem it happened because of the sins of the prophets and priests (Israel warning regarding the two witnesses
Lamentation 4 12 The kings of the earth did not believe, nor did any of the peoples of the world, that enemies and foes could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
13 But it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests,
who shed within her the blood of the righteous.
14 Now they grope through the streets as if they were blind.
They are so defiled with blood that no one dares to touch their garments.
15 “Go away! You are unclean!” people cry to them.
“Away! Away! Don’t touch us!” When they flee and wander about,
people among the nations say, “They can stay here no longer.”
16 The LORD himself has scattered them; he no longer watches over them.
The priests are shown no honor, the elders no favor.
The blood of the righteous peoples that is talked of that will cause enemies to enter and destroy Jerusalem is the blood of the two witnesses who will be killed in Jerusalem at the command of the false prophet, as it is written;
Revelation 11 3 And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” 4 They are “the two olive trees” and the two lamp stands, and “they stand before the Lord of the earth.”
7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified.9 For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.
11 But after the three and a half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.13 At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.
It will be in Jerusalem that the two prophets just as Jesus Christ was crucified in Jerusalem, as He said;
Luke 13: 33 In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!
34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.
And so it is written in Lamentations:
Lamentation 2 20 Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?
The end time punishment on Israel is also for all the blood of the righteous people that has been shed in Jerusalem in times past including the blood of Jesus Christ. The reason for killing the righteous people is because the people in Israel don’t listen to the Words of warnings that the prophets and priests sent to them say. Had they listened to the Words of the prophets and priests, then they would have changed their ways, loving the Words of the Lord and those sent to them. It is for Israel’s spiritual adultery that Jerusalem has been referred to as Sodom and Egypt to symbolize the spirit of adultery and oppression that cause the Israelites to stray and oppress those sent to them. As it is written
Hosea 4 10 “They will eat but not have enough; they will engage in prostitution but not flourish, because they have deserted the Lord to give themselves 11 to prostitution;
old wine and new wine take away their understanding.
12 My people consult a wooden idol, and a diviner’s rod speaks to them.
A spirit of prostitution leads them astray; they are unfaithful to their God.
13 They sacrifice on the mountaintops and burn offerings on the hills,
under oak, poplar and terebinth, where the shade is pleasant.
Therefore your daughters turn to prostitution and your daughters-in-law to adultery.
- Jerusalem will be most beautiful city and joy of the Whole earth
Jerusalem will also be the most beautiful city, the perfection of the Whole earth but at the time of Wrath, people will laugh and scoff at its fall and enemies will rejoice for they finally have Jerusalem within their grasp. At the start of the 1000 year period, Jerusalem will be restored as the most beautiful city, and the joy of the whole earth just as it will be in a few years, as it was written:
Lamentation 2 15 All who pass your way clap their hands at you;
they scoff and shake their heads at Daughter Jerusalem:
“Is this the city that was called the perfection of beauty,
the joy of the whole earth?”
16 All your enemies open their mouths wide against you;
they scoff and gnash their teeth and say, “We have swallowed her up.
This is the day we have waited for; we have lived to see it.”
- The city of Jerusalem will be rebuilt in times of Trouble
Daniel 9:25c It will be rebuilt but in times of trouble
The ruler who comes will rise up as destroyer after the 7th week of the decree to rebuilt Jerusalem. He will enforce a martial law for five months forcing everyone to return to their own native land as he and the ten horns prepare to destroy Babylon as per God’s purposes and plans. After the martial law and destruction of the city of Babylon, the king of the north (anti-Christ) and king of the south( Egypt and her allies) will disagree and go to war by the River Euphrates. At this war by the River Euphrates, a large army will fall, with it three of the ten horns/kings giving rise to the false prophet.
The martial law, the destruction of Babylon and the preparing for the war by the River Euphrates will add tensions and fear among people thus making it harder for the rebuilding of the city and the temple. Eventually, this war by the river Euphrates will overflow to Jerusalem destroying the city and the sanctuary.
Note that, when the anti-Christ rises after seven weeks from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem, It will be the re-unsealing of the second seal and the blowing of the fifth trumpet in Revelation 9. The martial law that will last five months will be the first event after the rise of the anti-Christ, and the first woe of trumpet five. The destruction of the City of Babylon is also part of Trumpet five and the destruction of army that will equal a third of mankind will be destroyed in Trumpet six as part of the second woe, as it is written;
Revelation 9:1 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.
7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).
Jeremiah 51 This is what the Lord says: “See, I will stir up the spirit of a destroyer
against Babylon and the people of Leb Kamai.
2 I will send foreigners to Babylon to winnow her and to devastate her land;
they will oppose her on every side in the day of her disaster.
Jeremiah 50:16 Cut off from Babylon the sower, and the reaper with his sickle at harvest Because of the sword of the oppressor let everyone return to their own people, let everyone flee to their own land.
Isaiah 13 :9-1 6 See, the day of the Lord is coming —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger—to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.10 The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. 11 I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins .I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.12 I will make people scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the Lord Almighty, in the day of his burning anger. 14 Like a hunted gazelle, like sheep without a shepherd, they will all return to their own people, they will flee to their native land
Revelation 9: 13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet,… 14 … “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.
The Characters and events mentioned in the 70 week period in Isaiah 9
Daniel 9:25 :25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.
From the time the word goes out to rebuild Jerusalem, the Anointed one, the ruler, comes after 7 weeks
- The anointed one
In the past fulfilled prophecies, The Anointed One referred to Jesus Christ first coming. At the end of this age, The Anointed One refers to the child of Revelation 12, the child who will be raised by God and rule all nations with an iron scepter, an extension of Jesus, the scepter from Zion and the king promised to David who will come from Zion(Psalms 110 and Psalms 132. About this child; refer to the article, “Revelation 12, The Woman and the Dragon.”).
Revelation 12 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who ‘will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.’ And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.
Daniel 9:26 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.
Thus fulfilling the words spoken in Daniel 11, as the child in Revelation 12 is the future prince of the covenant between God, men and the beasts of the earth.
Daniel:11:22 22 Then an overwhelming army will be swept away before him; both it and a prince of the covenant will be destroyed.
Verse 26 a…The Anointed one cut off and will have nothing. indicates the time when the Word will be stopped, public preaching or prayer will be prohibited and those found will be put to death. It is the time spoken of in Amos 8. This is confirmed Daniel 9:27 . 27 …’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering
Amos 8:11-12 11 ‘The days are coming,’ declares the Sovereign Lord,
‘when I will send a famine through the land –
not a famine of food or a thirst for water,
but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 People will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east,
searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it.
Daniel 12:4 4 … Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.’
- The ruler who comes
Vs 25 25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’
The ruler is the anti-Christ, man of lawlessness and destroyer confirmed in Daniel
Daniel9:26-27 26 … The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
- The people of the ruler who will destroy the sanctuary
Daniel 9:26 b. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end
The people of the ruler who comes (the anti-Christ) will be the northern army or the Assyrian army under the Destroyer (anti-Christ/ruler) who will destroy the city and the sanctuary
Daniel 11:31 31 ‘His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice.
- This army will rise at the blowing of the fifth trumpet when the anti-Christ rises to power
Revelation 9 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.
7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. 9 …the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).
- The army will be large and well organized and are thus compared to as swarms of locust
Joel 2 … the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand—
2 …Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes,
such as never was in ancient times nor ever will be in ages to come.
4 They have the appearance of horses; they gallop along like cavalry.
5 With a noise like that of chariots they leap over the mountaintops,
like a crackling fire consuming stubble, like a mighty army drawn up for battle.
6 At the sight of them, nations are in anguish; every face turns pale.
7 They charge like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers.
They all march in line, not swerving from their course.
8 They do not jostle each other; each marches straight ahead.
They plunge through defenses without breaking ranks.
9 They rush upon the city; they run along the wall. They climb into the houses;
like thieves they enter through the windows.
10 Before them the earth shakes, the heavens tremble,
the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.
11 The Lord thunders at the head of his army;
his forces are beyond number, and mighty is the army that obeys his command
- Before the army rises, (before the fifth trumpet, there will be signs)
Joel 2 Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill.Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming
3 ...Before them the land is like the garden of Eden,
behind them, a desert waste— nothing escapes them.
10 Before them the earth shakes, the heavens tremble,the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.
- The people of the ruler who comes will extend the River Euphrates war into Jerusalem and thus causing destruction of the city and sanctuary
Jeremiah 46: 3-4, 10-12 3 “Prepare your shields, both large and small, and march out for battle! 4 Harness the horses, mount the steeds! Take your positions
with helmets on! Polish your spears, put on your armor!
10 But that day belongs to the Lord, the Lord Almighty—
a day of vengeance, for vengeance on his foes.
The sword will devour till it is satisfied, till it has quenched its thirst with blood.
For the Lord, the Lord Almighty, will offer sacrifice
11 “Go up to Gilead and get balm, Virgin Daughter Egypt.
But you try many medicines in vain; there is no healing for you.
12 The nations will hear of your shame; your cries will fill the earth.
One warrior will stumble over another; both will fall down together.”
in the land of the north by the River Euphrates
Revelation 9:13-20 13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God. 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number…
Isaiah 7: 18 In that day the Lord will whistle for flies from the Nile delta in Egypt and for bees from the land of Assyria. 19 They will all come and settle in the steep ravines and in the crevices in the rocks, on all the thorn bushes and at all the water holes. 20 In that day the Lord will use a razor hired from beyond the Euphrates River—the king of Assyria—to shave your head and private parts, and to cut off your beard also.
Isaiah 8 :7 therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates—the king of Assyria with all his pomp. It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks 8 and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it, passing through it and reaching up to the neck. Its outspread wings will cover the breadth of your land, Immanuel
- A covenant with many in the 70th week;
Daniel 9: 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering.
The anti-Christ confirming a covenant with many in the middle of the 70th week signify the falling of a third of the saints, commonly known as the falling of the stars in Bible prophecy
The stars of the heavens
Stars of the heavens are the saints, those who have faith in the Most High God and thus the promise to Abraham, “your descendants will be as many as the stars of the heavens”.
Daniel 12:3 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.
The anti-Christ and dragon’s part in the falling of the stars
Revelation 12:3, 7-9 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
Revelation 8:10 10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— 11 the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.
Revelation 13:1- 2 The dragon stood on the shore of the sea And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. 2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.
Mathew 12 30 ‘Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
Daniel 8 9 Out of one of them came another horn, which started small but grew in power to the south and to the east and toward the Beautiful Land. 10 It grew until it reached the host of the heavens, and it threw some of the starry host down to the earth and trampled on them.
The anti-Christ falls as a star and in the middle of the 70th week he confirms a covenant with many and thus causing the falling of many saints.
Daniel 9:27 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him
Daniel 11:3232 With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.39 He … will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price.
Daniel 11:33-35 33 ‘Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered. 34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
Daniel 12 “At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
- The abomination that causes desolation at the end of this age
Daniel 9:27 27 … And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him
At the end of this age, its the worship of the image of the beast that will cause worldwide desolation. The false prophet who is also the beast out of the earth, will be filled with the spirit of Babylon, which rejoices in adultery. He will order the inhabitants of the earth to set up and worship an image of the beast out of the sea. He will be given power to breath life into this image support and even force its worship, thus making all nations drink the maddening wine of Babylon. The set up and worship of this image will be the cause of worldwide desolation. It will be the last act of the worldly before the wrath of God, the seven plagues in Revelation 16 are poured on the anti-Christ kingdom and his followers who will have accepted the number 666 as a sign of their allegiance and worship to the beast.
Revelation 1311 …a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, … 14 … it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast… 15 was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people,… to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 …they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.
Take heart, these things must happen, it’s through them that Our eternal Redemption comes, as it is written.
Daniel 7 26 “‘But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever. 27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High.His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.’
